Qonic December Release Notes
This month is all about refinement. We’ve sharpened the tools you use most, from snapping and selection to clash detection. We wanted to make sure that as your projects get bigger and more complex, the software stays fast and reliable.
Want to see it in practice? Check out this month’s release video:
Circles and Rectangles
We’ve added the ability to draw Circles and Rectangles directly from the Chalk menu. Use these sketches as a base to Extrude or Push/Pull, allowing you to build 3D geometry from scratch in just a few clicks.
Box selection for sub-entities
Working in Deep Select mode is now much faster. You can use box selection to grab multiple faces, edges, or chalk curves at once. This is a big help when you are navigating high-detail areas or complex geometry where clicking one by one is too slow.
Direct BCF Import
To keep your coordination loop tight, you can now import BCF files directly through the Issues panel. This makes it easier to sync feedback from external checking tools and keeps all your coordination notes in one place.
A Smoother Start: Dashboard Updates
We’ve redesigned the first steps you take in Qonic to get you moving faster:
-
New Onboarding: A fresh welcome and onboarding dialog to help new users get up to speed instantly.
-
Create from Scratch: You no longer need to import a file to get started; you can now create a new model directly from the dashboard.
-
Simplified Invites: We’ve updated the “Invite to Project” dialog to make team collaboration more straightforward.
-
Better Publish Flow: The publish dialog now opens automatically when you return from the client, saving you that extra click.
Better precision and snapping
Accuracy is everything in modelling. This update introduces our first version of rotation snapping for better control when positioning elements. We also added the ability to snap directly to chalk curves while manipulating 3D geometry, bridging the gap between your initial sketches and the final model.
Clash Detection
We have made clash analysis more organized and stable:
-
Group by Product Type: You can now categorize clashes by product type to help you prioritize which fixes to handle first.
-
Better Memory Management: We resolved out-of-memory issues to ensure the tool stays stable even when processing very large clash sets.
-
Clearer Feedback: New notifications keep you informed about the progress of your clash actions in real-time.
Data and Interface updates
-
Input Fields: We updated the design of input fields across the platform, adding a fill to make it clearer where you are typing.
-
Property Panel: The panel now displays more hard-coded properties, so you have more reliable access to element data.
API and Automation
For teams building their own tools or using automation, we updated the Public API:
-
IFC Export: This is now fully available through the Public API.
-
Better Errors: We improved the feedback for modify and delete calls, so you get clear messages and better handling for invalid inputs.
Stability and Workflow fixes
We cleared out several friction points to make the software feel more reliable:
-
Multi-model Editing: You can now open and edit different models within the same project simultaneously in separate browser sessions.
-
Section Box Fixes: We fixed the manipulator behavior on touch devices and improved the reliability of undo/redo actions specifically for section boxes.
-
Reliable History: We fixed an error that happened when loading model history if the last version was published by a different user.
-
Quantities to Rooms: We resolved a bug in this procedure that could occasionally cause the unintended deletion of multiple walls during the process.
That’s a wrap for December! We’ve spent the month sharpening the tools; now it’s your turn to use them. Log in and see how much smoother your workflow feels. Consider this the foundation for what’s next because we’re going big in 2026. We’re talking major updates in how you’ll work, so don’t go too far. The best is yet to come!
