Using the browse panel only makes it possible to select Products, I think? So when we make a grouping by BuildingStorey, Model, ifcProject or whatever, we cannot use this grouping to select those. It always selects the underlying objects/products.

I know we can go to library =\> Locations =\> … to select those. Or sometimes from the inspect panel use the “Go to definition” button. But it takes a lot of clicks. Would be useful to have this directly from the browse panel somehow.
Using “Go to definition” is only good when we want to edit that precise definition. When we want to go up 1 hierarchical level, that is not possible. Because the “\<” symbol takes us back to the inspect panel and a “↑” symbol doesn’t exist (similar to windows explorer style).

Hello,

Indeed, the Browse panel is currently focused on working with products, so no materials, spatial locations, etc.

To browse through spatial locations, we suggest to use the Library panel, where you can manipulate the hierarchical structure of buildings, floors, and spaces. Here you can add sublevels in the hierarchy, select the actual spatial location of the corresponding products, and edit the definition.

Hi Tiemen,

Yes, I am aware of this possibility.

But my point is exactly that it takes a lot of clicks to get there. For example to find the model ‘properties’ or in the future for spaces, it is often useful to select the “definition” of that spatial object instead of the underlying products.

Same with materials, as you say, or codes, …

Even if the default behaviour in the browse panel remains to select underlying products, it would be nice to have right-click or 3-dot menu to select the definition from within the browse panel.
