Support for IfcSpatialZone

Since IFC4, it has been possible to create an IfcSpatialZone. I would like to use this to define the geometry of a fire compartment in 3D, a shaft spanning multiple floors, or an entire floor or building. It would give me an entity that I can visualise and to which I could attach properties.

Hi Wim,

I have been experimenting with this a bit as well. So far ifcSpaces are working quite well, though it took a bit of searching and help from support to understand how to go from space geometry to space properties and back. But indeed ifcSpatialZone is still missing. I know it is on their radar, somewhere in the long list of feature requests  So it is good to see someone else mentioning it here so that it gets a bit more exposure and gets pushed up in the priority list!

Hi Johan,

Nice to see some interaction on this platform. What’s your primary use case for Qonic?

As a general contractor: Making something out of the models we get … That’s a very general description, I know

First priority: getting reliable quantities out of the models. And making sure of a good single-source-of-truth so that everyone is looking at the same thing. Though that part is not easy (neither in any other platform though).
