I love the ability to use the “Align” command! But … Sometimes (often lately) when I want to align on a certain face (for example a column) there is a difference in some directions. For the example of the column: a structural model will start the column directly on the foundation. But a prefabricated column (or a steel column with base plate, …) will have some marging on the bottom.
If I want to align the model (or object(s)) only in the horizontal plane, that currently doesn’t really work. Because also the Z direction will be taken into consideration. Which means that afterwards I have to correct this Z value. Which is not that big of a deal, but sometimes I have to look a bit to find the correct reference. Or I take a certain reference only to find out that it was wrong in the fabricator’s model.
To make this more flexible I think it would be useful to have the ability to disable certain direction when using the align function. Disabling Z direction makes sense in this example. But maybe in some cases X or Y (or perpendicular/parallel to a certain face) could also be very useful.
