Make conflict resolution easier to understand/deal with

I have always been having a bit of an issue with the “conflict resolution” mode. For me it is seldom very clear what each ‘item’ in the list actually means and to see which is the actual difference (other than seeing what element it is about).

Now a very specific case: I have opened a set of 3 models. One of them is my “personal version” after uploading a new IFC file as version. I haven’t published that new version yet because I expect to have to do some tweaking in Qonic anyways.

In this case my 3 models open, with the “conflict solving” enabled. But I can’t even see which of the three active models this conflict is about!

As I have requested earlier, please add date and time of the versions below the “My version” and “Public version” icons. That at least will tell me something about which version is more recent (because someone else might have published a public version that is more recent than my version).

As a suggestion, to make it easier to digest: group changes/conflicts. For example I have many identical issues:

If they are grouped I can easily decide. Now it is more difficult because I have to scroll trough a long list. I am afraid to simply select the entire model version for the possibility that there is another conflict somewhere in between those that I haven’t spotted yet.

Hi Johan,

Valid feedback! There are actually 2 issues here:

  • Conflict resolution with multiple models: with the introduction of the model picker you can indeed load new models into view while in conflict resolution mode, but this was actually not as designed. Conflict Resolution on multiple models at once is not properly supported, but we will make sure to support this in the short to medium term.
  • General legibility of the conflicts: this is indeed a problem when having many conflicts to resolve. Qonic will soon allow grouping of conflicts to have a better overview of the issues! This is also not a huge development so should be expected to be in the product on the relatively short term.

In order to get more insight in what the changes are about, it would be good if we had a better way of visualizing the elements in the 3D viewer. By selecting/isolating all elements that have changed for example, And then colour-code them depending on “Added / Changed / Deleted”.

Now we can only visualize one conflict at a time by double-clicking. That is simply not workable for >500 items in the list …
