Hi there.
In the create tool I can only find basic shapes like a box or a cylinder. I was wondering if there is an intention to add modeling tools for construction elements like walls, beams, columns, doors etc. and if there is an intention to add extensive model libraries for each construction element.
Maybe these things already exists, I am not sure. I’ve tried to look at some video tutorials from youtube and it seems the modeling always starts from a basic shape instead of a pre-made object.
Also I was wondering if there is any plans to create some kind of a video course where every modeling tool and feature is explained in a very “hand holding” way?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jani,
Both modeling tools for construction elements and component libraries for these types of elements are being actively developed right now! Within the next few months you should be seeing more and more such geometry creation tools appear in Qonic, so definitely keep an eye on our montly releases
A video course is something that we would like to develop as well, but so far it hasn’t been a priority as our written help pages are easier to keep up to date. As our modeling toolset gets developed further we will eventually need some more supporting material indeed!

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
I am definitely keeping an eye on this platform. The ideas behind Qonic are fantastic and development is fast. I cannot understate how important it is that the architecture is heavily based on an ifc schema since at least here in Finland we are required to deliver an ifc file to the authorities as part of building permit and the ifc must contain certain property sets, properties and property values and Qonic makes it very easy to produce models according to the authority requirements. And I feel like this is the direction many EU countries are moving towards: applying for a building permit digitally with models instead of drawings.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your kind words! We’re also convinced that making BIM models more accessible and adhering to open standards - through platforms like ours - can speed up European (and global) legislation around digital building permits.
We’re always happy to receive feedback or ideas to improve Qonic, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, either here or through a more direct channel!
